Check Out Lexi’s Story Below Where She Detailed Her Blueprints In Music, “Unconditionally” EP, And More:
News For People: What was the inspiration behind your project “Unconditionally”?
Lexi: Unconditionally, Lexi’ is my sophomore EP! My first one, titled ‘With Love, Lexi’ was a series of love songs for myself, newly 20, exploring life through platonic and romantic love. This new EP is a response to that, now in my mid twenties, exploring love and life as I’ve gotten older, explored new cities and experiences new people.
News For People: How would you describe the mood of your latest project?
Lexi: It’s definitely an RnB type feel good and nostalgic project. I think it takes on emotional highs and lows, making you reflect on your own personal experiences. I want people to be okay with feeling anything during this project, good or bad, emotions are to be recognized and embraced.
News For People: What are some of the themes you’ve considered for the release of your project?
Lexi: Romantic, platonic and self love are all continuous themes in my project and in my music. Unconditionally is a way one might sign a love letter and so I wanted to follow that very specifically.
News For People: Out of the singles on your “unconditionally” project, which single stands out to you the most?
Lexi: My absolute favorite is ‘Changing’ because of how vulnerable it sounds and feels. Genuinely you can hear the pain and discomfort in my voice which in reflection, makes it feel as though I’m singing directly to you.
News For People: What inspired you to combine the concepts of love and smoking for your single “LSD”?
Lexi: Hahaha, well when you’re big cities like Chicago, it’s probable that smoking is a part of your love language and love culture. From as early as I can remember, even before I started smoking, it was always around and always a way that brought people together. It’s like a social experience that everyone is down for. So when speaking about just wanting to put petty bullshit aside, smoking is an easy way to link up and have convos, or ignore them haha. Also there’s a famous expressway (highway) in Chicago called Lake Shore Drive (LSD). It just all make sense, ya know?
News For People: How is your single “Options” different from other singles that are on your ep “Unconditionally?”
Lexi: Options is such a fun and sassy personality song. I think Options is the best way to describe me as an individual. The other songs are all parts of me, but they’re different layers and not necessarily who I am. With Options, the song literally came from a conversation with someone I used to speak to. Like literally all you do is talk… can you just get over me? Because I have options and literally none of them are you. Hahaha it’s just such a Lexi moment and I think that’s why it stands out.
News For People: What responses do you hope to receive based on your ep release?
Lexi: Positive ones only!!!! I mean there’s room for all responses because everyone is valid to feel how they feel genuinely. But I pray this brings some positive vibes to everyone’s life — I want everyone to walk away with the project having at least one feel good song.
News For People: What message do you hope people would receive from listening to your ep?
Lexi: That the world needs love and so do we. In whatever shape or form, we just need to be healed and recognize all of the ways in which love shows up and how we receive / give it.
News For People: What advice would you give an artist perusing a career in music?
Lexi: Never stop and no one’s journey is the same. What’s meant for you will be, as long as you continue to do your own hard work and necessary steps to stay consistent.
News For People: What else can people expect from you in music?
Lexi: More bangerssss! And some visuals 2024!! I’m also tryna land a Spotify Editorial. But honestly more music, more projects, more shows, more visuals. I just never wanna stop!
News For People: Anything you would like to add?
Lexi: I am beyond grateful the support so much!! Genuinely it means the world to me💜 I am excited for this journey in Lex Land and I appreciate all my purple punchessss following it!!
